Film screening: Funny Kinda Guy

Rosewind common house, 3131 Haines St, Port Townsend

A few people have asked me to show my film again! So here your second chance.

ALL ARE WELCOME: $1 donation for non Rosewind residents.

Did you know I was a movie star? Okay, not quite - but you really are welcome to join me for the screening of this award-winning documentary about my gender change and the subsequent process of losing my alto singing voice.

The film was first released in 2005 and even won an international award, but it has pretty much slipped into obscurity in recent years. In Scotland they screen it as part of LGBTI History month! I don't normally think of myself as old but in transgender terms I suppose I am.

This film was very well received by folkies as well as by the queer community, since it's very much about my journey as a musician as well as a trans man. I almost never screen it - this is the only time I'm planning on doing it in PT, so please tell people who might be interested.

It is my hope that this documentary isn't just about me, that instead it speaks for all of us as we struggle and succeed to live with authenticity and truth.

The film lasts for about 75 mins, then we'll have a question and answer session afterwards - with a few songs chucked in there too.
