Good Friday 2021: A Forgiveness Meditation

If we could forgive on our own we would have done it already.  All of us have wounds we carry but do not know how to release.  Please identity a burden that is keeping you stuck (perhaps it is defining your days) and offer that to the Christ to be carried with him through death into the place of resurrection and wholeness.  I suggest you write the burden on a piece of paper and around the time of 3pm on Good Friday you burn it, burry it or release it upon the ocean.

In the Christian tradition, we honor and remember the death of Jesus at 3 pm on the Friday before Easter. For me, it's a time to honor the healing and transformative aspects of death, and remember that death is a portal to love.

In this unusual time of Covid, many of us who have experienced the death of a loved one aren't able to find healing through the usual rituals of funeral, wake, burial, or memorial. Last year I offered this livestream service to create a space for us to honor those we've lost.

This is not a traditional Good Friday service, but will draw inspiration from the psalms and use song, chant, and prayer to both mourn and celebrate the passing of our loved ones.

There will be a time to light candles together for those who have died, so if you'd like to join in please have a candle ready.
