'Seeking the Gifts of Winter'
Although Advent is part of the Christian liturgical year, it's also a reflection of much older, pre-Christian traditions that carry us into winter. The descent into winter guides us into fertile darkness, and opportunity to descend into the Cave of the Heart. Advent is a time of waiting, listening, pausing in the stillness without knowing what will be born in the season and the year to come. Rather than bustling through the holidays, can we allow the season of Advent to be a time for reflection and integration? If we give ourselves a chance to be fallow and rest in that rich darkness, what might we meet on the other side?
